Let’s do some DIY Ass-kicking! Afropunk in Louisville!

Hey Afropunkers, I’ve got a plan, and in order for it to work, I need your help.

Let me cut right to the chase:

We’re going to show the AfroPunk film! We’re going to invite James Spooner down to talk about the movie. We’re going to book a couple of your favorite Af… Continue

I Belong and I am Black along with you

I'll be honest, I never felt included in what is assumed by other Black people to be Black culture.

I've always felt like an outsider, even from a very young age. Before I discovered rock music or before I cared to dye my hair pink-- before I thought being a musician was a viable option-- I was different.

At the very basis of my being, I'm a weirdo-outsider. Everything that exists in my life I have to explain to people, as there's nothing simple about me. I'm from West Philly, but I spoke like… Continue

HELL YEAH

So, I came to new york specifically to see the AfroPunk festival (and see some of my good friends who are also in new york) and yesterday did NOT disappoint me.

I saw Funk Face, The Oooh Baby Gimme Mores, and American Fangs. All three groups were amazing! What a hell-yeah hookup for a FREE CONCERT IN A PARKING LOT! The Afropunk festival is just an amazing force of nature on it's own-- skatebording, music, bmx kids, free stickers and stuff, and loads and loads of people who look kinda like you r… Continue

Sista Pam, when I didn't get my free day of stay at the hotel, we just packed up and left without any ill-feelings. As I was driving away looking at the Statue of Liberty, it dawned on me that I would be missing my man, Saul! I almost turned that car around! lol I hate that I missed him. I'll have to catch him out here on the west coast.
